Chiminea Care Guide

Please note, Chimineas are not currently in stock
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BURN!

NEVER! Burn anything directly on the surface of the actual pottery! Place 3 to 4 inches of gravel or small stones in the bottom of the chiminea before you burn anything inside the chiminea to avoid burning directly on the chiminea itself. NEVER USE SAND OR SOIL!

NEVER! Use your chiminea inside of a building or under any type of patio covering, roofs, trees, or anything flammable; place it under the open sky. Be sure to place the chiminea on top of stone, brick, or a metal stand, or anything nonflammable if your chiminea doesn’t have legs.

ALWAYS warm up your chiminea SLOWLY with small fires for the first 20 to 30 minutes or until the flue is too hot to touch.

ALWAYS! Burn small fires for the first 10 or more fires in order to cure the chiminea, making sure that no burning wood or embers come directly in contact with the pottery.

NEVER! USE CHARCOAL, ARTIFICIAL LOGS, PROPANE OR GAS BURNERS, OR STARTER FLUIDS OF ANY KIND! They burn too hot and will crack your chiminea.

ALWAYS use newspaper, small pieces of wood, wood logs, or kindling for fuel whenever you burn in your chiminea.

ALWAYS! Use common sense around a burning fire. If the flames are coming out of the flue, the fire is way too big. This can cause it to crack and can be hazardous to people, animals, and objects around it.

Drastic weather conditions damage your chiminea so consider the following:

NEVER! Use your chiminea if it has been rained on or has been drenched with any type of liquid!

NEVER! Put out the fires with any type of liquid.

NEVER! Let the chiminea get wet in times of freezing or below freezing temperatures.
